Published on 1/12/2004 On December 26 2003, Falun Gong practitioner Liu Chengjun died in the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital of Jilin University after being brutally persecuted. Liu was one of the leading participants that interrupted cable TV signals in Changchun City in March 2002 to broadcast documentary videos about Falun Gong. Eight channels of the Changchun cable TV network broadcast the programs, including programs about how Falun Dafa has spread worldwide, and a deconstruction of the Tiananmen staged self-immolation. The video broadcast lasted for more than 40 minutes and allowed many people to realize the truth behind the Chinese regime’s propaganda used against Falun Gong.
To mourn Liu Chengchun’s death and to protest Jiang’s persecution of Falun Gong, Dafa practitioners from several cities in Latvia gathered at the Chinese Embassy in Riga to peacefully appeal. Published on 6/30/2004 On the evening of June 28, 2004, Australian Falun Gong practitioners were shot at by an unknown assailant on their way to Presidential Guest House to conduct a peaceful protest against the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Zeng Qinghong, who plays a major role in the persecution of Falun Gong in China, was visiting in South Africa. One practitioner who was driving the car was shot resulting in the bones of one foot being shattered.It was the worst attack targeting overseas Falun Gong practitioners to date. Falun Gong practitioners in Ottawa and Montreal held a peaceful protest in the front to the Chinese Embassy despite the rain on June 29.

Published on 7/6/2004 On the afternoon of July 3, 2004, practitioners in Lima, Peru gathered outside the Chinese Embassy to strongly condemn Jiang and Luo’s group hiring gunmen in South Africa to shoot Falun Gong practitioners who went there to peacefully appeal. Practitioners explained the situation to the police officer who was on duty at the embassy gate. The officer said to the practitioners sincerely, "Don’t worry, we’ll protect you here!"
